Repointing stone walls to restore former glory
Whether restoring old stonework or just making stone walls look better, Matt will take great care to match the techniques used by stonemasons in the past.
He uses traditional, lime-based mortar and blends together with differing varieties of sands to match colours and textures. Where necessary he will chip away old pointing back to the bedding joint and then repoint the areas between the stones.
Salt damp repairs without taking shortcuts
There are many different ways to repair salt damp, so please get a clear understanding of the builder’s technique if you plan to compare prices. Make sure old salt affected stones and masonry components are completely removed.
Matt will install a heavy duty plastic dampcourse membrane and new stones that match the existing structure which are repointed to match the original stonework.
